16 page research - layout design

Besides research for content I wanted to research into layout design and I started looking through dozens of design annuals, and books such as mag-art, which is one in a series of books which looks at cd art, magazine art and so on in terms of theory and aesthetics. The latter, no doubt, I am more interested in. I'm also going to look back at my work from last year for the layout ideas and how I should tackle this brief.I'm moving fast on this now because I want to make a good start on it.

Whilst flicking through Computer arts Projects magazine entitled 'Design for Print' I pulled a few images from the CD that comes with the magazine which features portfolio imagery of various designers. The two images below are from Magma.


The injection of colour can really lift individual pages. That is what I will look to do on some of my pages. This may be through stock choice or ink, depending on the effect I want.
