Print finishing

I decided to look at print finishes and what would best suit my product. As I've read and no doubt discussed before is the importance of print finishes, and they should not become an afterthought to make something look more disirable alone. They should be used intelligently and should provide a link a to the concept.

This is when I thought about the posibility of using a heat sensitive ink that would change when touched. Thermochromic ink is a high sensitive ink used on that can be used on a variety of substrates from paper to fabric. I want to encourage interactivity by using a thermochromic based ink which will feature on the outer packaging in some way.

These are examples of the use of thermochromic ink used in graphic design. It gives a unique effect that you don't see around that often anymore. As a kid, I had t-shirts with this ink on and I certainly found it interesting. It could be a case of high cost and durability that comes into question.
