As a design direction I like the idea of creating a blue print style poster and including the extra details alongside the dots, like the detail on the car.

Studio Culture poster
This beautiful poster, design by spin, and released by unit editions, has inspired me during my premier league brief. I was reluctant to use helvetica but decided to reintroduce it once I saw this poster. Large pt size and tight leading is the way to go.
The Consult
Fresh form the talk with The Consult, I was particularly inspired by their branding of Stack Architects. The concept is very literal but holds its impact. The branding was carried across a whole range of deliverables, which is something I could replicate in the Helmore brief.
D8
Found this on the we are D8 blog. This publication for the Glasgow School of Art is printed on a coloured uncoated stock with vibrant spreads inside. I like the idea of offsetting type based resolutions with a mono or duotone image. I could use this for my Premier League brief. The stock really appeals to me.
Unreal
London based design agency, Unreal, have a varied portfolio, but one project sticks out for my as very original and appropriate to my design practice.
BWG Brand Guidelines by Mash Creative
Mash Creative have developed this brand guidelines document as part of a total rebrand of Black Watch Global, an intelligence and risk management consultancy. This is the best example I've seen so far of nailing a guideline book so it is easy to understand and easy to flick to the information needed. Its simple, big and bold, which is what you need as a designer when trying to find the right font or colour for a particular brief.
I have decided to split up the guidelines book I am designing into 5 small handy publications so the ease of access of information is even quicker compared to looking through a document of this size.
Project Magazine - Ipad
I was reading about Project magazine in the news this week. It's the first magazine solely for the digital format. This is obviously a huge step towards the expected, and this is a consideration that has to be thought about in regards to any new magazine releases. Obviously it has to be pitched right in regards to the target audience. For instance, there would be no point in making a magazine such as nuts or zoo digital only because the target audience are usually teenage boys so the likelihood they would have an iPad would be slim. However, for my magazine, Arkitekt, the target audience may have the need for an iPad or other tablet pc, so it makes sense to launch as a digital copy too.

Virgin Tycoon Richard Branson has launched what he says is the "first truly digital" magazine for Apple's iPad.
The publication, called Project, is a monthly style and culture magazine that will be sold through Apple's App store.
The publication comes head of an expected launch of a digital newspaper for the iPad called The Daily.
The newspaper is expected to be launched by Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation.
It is part of Mr Murdoch's continuing efforts to find a sustainable model for his newspaper empire, which has seen increased competition from free content on the internet.
In July, his Times newspaper began to charge customers to access its site, resulting in a 87% drop in readership online.
At the New York launch, Mr Branson dismissed suggestions he was engaged in a war with Murdoch.
"It's not a battle," he said. "It's all about choice, and a fair bit of competition doesn't hurt."
Project features video, sound and links to augment features on topics such as a new Jaguar car prototype and the film Tron: Legacy.
"On every page there will be links to expand the story," the editor-in-chief Anthony Noguera told the AFP news agency.
The magazine will cost £1.79 ($2.99), but Mr Noguera believes people will pay.
"It's a quality piece of editorial, so you have to pay for it," he said. "This is an expensive product to make."
However, reaction to the magazine has been muted. Digital media blog Paid content, for example, said it "frustrates with complexity".
Tech blog CNet said that "the articles themselves, as well as the messages in the souped-up advertisements for brands like Lexus and Panasonic, can come across as afterthoughts when there's so much audio-visual distraction" already on the iPad.

I also found this youtube video which gives a sneak peak into the magazine and how it will look. The video features are really cool. They bring the content to life but the rest of the stuff is pretty standard and replicates the normal layout of a magazine. It will obviously be much harder to mock up my magazine quickly because of its square format.
Music - Manchester City Annual Report
This is another key example of inspiration that informed my designs for the Premier League Report. Manchester based agency, Music designed the annual report for Manchester City, and one colour prints and plenty of negative space help the clarity of delivery.
The page of oversized type and with an image on the opposing spread works well and helps to break up the copy. I am using colour half tone photos for my publication to give it an extra rawness. Even the uncoated stock here is something I am looking to use.
Premier League promotion
I was thinking about how I could design something that could be easily replicated onto a disposable cup for a hot drink. I immediately thought about those card wrap things that go around a cup. I could brand a load of them without the need to print onto the actual cup. They are usually made from a textured cardboard so with a bit of luck I will be able to mock some up to photograph.
As for the pie, I was thinking off printing something on the inside of the pie tray so when it is eaten the fact/stat is revealed. It is incredibly simple but I think it will work. The chicken balti pie is one of the most popular pies at football apparently.

Marque Creative
Marque Creative have design agency headquarters in Glasgow, London and New York and they work for clients all over the world. They are a multidisciplinary agency who deal in design for both web and print. Their work has such variety in the type and colour choices selected. I particularly liked their work for nemaworkshop, which adopt a simple sans serif typeface which shaped the rest of the design. Tight leading, and kerning makes the whole set gives a sense of preciseness and accuracy.
nemaworkshop is a team of architects, designers and thinkers who create spaces which are conceptually innovative and highly sensitive to cultural and social contexts. Marque were asked to produce a bold, crisp identity that was in keeping with the studio’s ethos while being aware of their location in New York’s Lower East Side. The studio’s website reinforces this bold identity and was built using an adaptation of the ‘Cargo’ content management system.
Construct
London design agency Construct design for high end print and work with a range of clients from Glastonbury to Claridges. I love the typography led design they have done for Mulberry and Maybourne Papers in particularly. Allowing the type to do the work on with high quality stocks and print finishes adds another dimension to the clean cut, crisp design on show.
Mulberry – Brand Book
Written, designed and produced by Construct, the Mulberry brand book communicates the fashion house’s personality. Inclusive and accessible in design and content and ethically produced the brand book was distributed to Mulberry’s 800 plus members of staff and is used to communicate the brands unique perspective to journalists, partners and collaborators. The book proved so popular that is has been reprinted as postcards for staff to use and the phrases used are regularly referred to in the brands daily business.
Maybourne Papers – Editorial Design and Content
This is another example of Construct pushing the boundaries of a design studio’s involvement in client projects. With design and editorial content by Construct, each of the three newspapers for Claridge’s, The Connaught and The Berkeley has a distinct tone of voice but shared design elements that quietly reinforce their mutual Maybourne Hotel Group ownership. The quarterly newspapers are for guests and enjoy a print run 30,000.
