Typographic research

I wanted to investigate typography for this brief, and it's something I haven't done to the level that I first proposed. I have now got a little window of time to look at some typographic styles that will be appropriate to the brief.

I really like the effect hand drawn typography brings to a formalised design. I like the style that has a certain 'recognisability' and one can make out letterforms. But also an unpolished look that seems like it was done freehand.

I have begun archiving typographic treatments that I feel would fit in with the way I want my designs on this brief to look. This led me to a handmade typographic pool on flickr

This group has over 7,000 items listed and so is a good resource to get a feel for current work.

Some of my favourite examples.
