Housebound

Seen as I have been at home pretty much all summer, I decided to look in the loft for either unusual or 'vintage' pieces of design, the only things I found was an old record player, some records and a few engineering manuals, oh joy.

There was one record that I like the look though. I'm unsure of the release date but I would hazard a guess around the 1960's. This type of illustration is popular now, that I know only too well.

I like this simply because of how it was created, and it's charming to see typography where every letter appears differently because it was all sketched out as one piece appose to using a typeface like today. There is no touching up to be done, it is what it is. A generic vectorised version just would not be the same. I just love how trends and fashion work.

This would have been printed using lithography. The fact this was produced in the 50-60's means that litho would be the way to print high quantities at a fast speed. This could have also been created using screen printing which would have given a better finish than 4 colour process print.
